About Us


What is the Northeast Kingdom School Development Center?

The Northeast Kingdom School Development Center was created in 2000 as a partnership among the 9 supervisory unions in Northeastern Vermont and Lyndon State College. The Center serves to meet the needs of the schools of the region. This includes providing high quality professional development or other program development and management services.


The Center Provides:

- High Quality Professional Development opportunities (workshops and graduate courses) which focus on Content Knowledge,
Best Instructional Practices, Assessment, Evaluation, and Effective Use of Data Planning. 
- Mentoring Modeling
- Professional Networking
- Opportunities for licensure

 

Goals:
The NEKSDC brings together the resources, talents, and expertise across supervisory unions to meet the special challenges our region faces to provide quality instruction for all classrooms and meet the  diverse needs identified by our partner schools Professional Development.

- Graduate Credit courses held on campus and across the service area (Summer, Fall and Spring semesters)
- Undergraduate programs for para-professionals
- Non-credit workshops
- Regional In-service days
- “Role Alike” Meetings
- Implements Professional Development initiatives for Supervisory Unions
- Teacher mentoring program
- Sponsors conferences


Technical Assistance:

- Providing support to the State’s Identified Schools
- Needs Assessment and Action Planning support
- Partnering with members in the development of grant RFPs
- Providing School/Program Audits
